For example printer paper required for printing photographs should be of a higher quality and thickness compared to printing paper required for other uses such as printing documents and reports. There are special printer papers for business cards and greeting cards as well.  For users buying papers for printing photographs the grades of paper available are glossy, semi glossy and matte finishes. Canvas texture paper are also available and are suitable for landscape printing.

There are also very specialized printing papers available today such as POS printer paper, photo transfer paper and iron on paper. The later types of printer paper are becoming quite popular today as they are suitable for printing computerized images, artworks, photographs etc. on fabrics. These papers help the user in creating customized gift items such as T-shirts, caps, etc.
